!~The Aloo Chaat~!

 

" The Aloo Chaat "



Assalam Alaikum & Hello Guys!!!

I just thought I would share one of my all time favourite recipes which is the " Aloo Chaat ". Make sure to try it today in case you have not made for a while. I find we end up eating a lot of items/finger foods and following this one there are many others as well. Anyhow, let's try this simple recipe first and then move on to others and perhaps a variety of fruit drinks to have at Iftari time.

And if anyone would like to share any other simple, quick and healthy recipes for many of us so let's try to stick to the simplest and most natural methods of preparation for our meals.


Ingredients:
  • 3 medium sized potatoes, washed and peeled
  • 1/2 a teaspoon of chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon of chaat masala
  • lemon juice
  • 1 tomato, washed and diced
  • 1 medium sized onion, washed and diced
  • tamarind and mango chutney, or preferred chutneys
  • chopped parsley leaves for garnish
  • salt and pepper, to taste


Steps:
  1. Dice potatoes into 1 inch cubes.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and deep fry the diced potatoes, until they turn golden brown.OR.Boil the potatoes ,peel them and dice them into 1 or 2 inch cubes.
  3. Remove potatoes from the pan and let them drain in a collander lined with kitchen paper.
  4. Place the fried potatoes, diced tomatoes and onion in a bowl and toss with the red chilli powder, salt and pepper, cumin powder and chaat masala.
  5. Add chutnies and lemon juice according to taste and coat evenly.
  6. Serve in individual bowls, garnished with parsley leaves.
