"سلطان اور قاضی"
تمام وزیر میدان میں تیر اندازی کی مشق کر رہے تھے ۔سلطان غیاث الدین بھی ان کے ساتھ شریک تھا ۔ اچانک سلطان کا نشانہ خطا ہوگیااور وہ تیر ایک بیوہ عورت کے بچے کو جا لگا۔اس سے وہ مرگیا۔ سلطان کو پتہ نہ چل سکا۔ وہ عورت قاضی سلطان کی عدالت میں پہنچ گئی ۔ قاضی سراج الدین مے عورت کی طرف متوجہ ہوئے اور پوچھا: '' کیا بات ہے ؟ تم کیوں رو رہی ہو؟ "
عورت نے روتے ہوئے سلطان کے خلاف شکایت لکھوائی '' سلطان کے تیر سے میرابچہ ہلاک ہوگیا ہے ''
قاضی سراج الدین نے عورت کی بات پوری توجہ سے سنی اور پھر اسی وقت سلطان کے نام خط لکھا: '' آپ کے خلاف شکایت آئی ہے۔ فوراً عدالت میں حاضر ہو جائیں اور اپنے خلاف آنے والی شکایت کا جواب دیں ''
پھر یہ حکم عدالت کے ایک پیادے کو دے کر ہدایت کی: '' یہ حکم نامہ فوراً سلطان کے پاس لے جاؤ " پیادے کو یہ حکم دے کر قاضی سراج الدین نے ایک کَوڑا نکالا اور اپنی گدی کے نیچے چھپا دیا۔
پیادہ جب سلطان کے محل میں پہنچا تو اس دیکھا کہ سلطان کو درباریوں نے گھیر رکھا ہے اور قاضی کا حکم نامی سلطان تک پہنچانا مشکل ہے۔ یہ دیکھ کر پیادہ نے اونچی آواز میں اذان دینا شروع کر دی۔
بے وقت اذان سن کر سلطان نے حکم دیا: '' اذان دینے والے کو میرے سامنے پیش کرو '' پیادے کو سلطان کے سامنے پیش کیا گیا۔
سلطان نے گرج کر پوچھا: '' بے وقت اذان کیوں دے رہے تھے ''
'' قاضی سراج الدین نے آپ کو عدالت میں طلب کیا ہے آپ فوراً میرے ساتھ عدالت چلیں '' پیادے نے قاضی صاحب کا حکم نامہ سلطان کو دیتے ہوئے کہا۔
سلطان فوراً اُٹھا۔ ایک چھوٹی سی تلوار اپنی آستین میں چھپالی ۔ پھر پیادے کے ساتھ عدالت پہنچا۔ قاضی صاحب نے بیٹھے بیٹھے مقتول کی ماں اور سلطان کے بیان باری باری سنے پھر فیصلہ سنایا:
'' غلطی سے ہو جانے والے قتل کی وجہ سے سلطان پر کفارہ اور اس کی برادری پر خون کی دیت آئے گی ۔ ہاں اگر مقتول کی ماں مال کی کچھ مقدار پر راضی ہو جائے تو اس مال کے بدلے سلطان کو چھوڑا جا سکتا ہے ''۔
سلطان نے لڑکے کی ماں کو بہت سے مال پر راضی کر لیا پھر قاضی سے کہا :
'' میں نے لڑکے کی ماں کو مال پر راضی کر لیا ہے '' قاضی نے عورت سے پوچھا : '' کیا آپ راضی ہو گئیں ''
'' جی ہاں میں راضی ہو گئی ہوں '' عورت نے قاضی کو جواب دیا ۔
اب قاضی اپنی جگہ سے سلطان کی تعظیم کے لئے اٹھے اور انھیں اپنی جگہ پر بٹھایا۔ سلطان نے بغل سے تلوار نکال کر قاضی سراج الدین کو دیکھاتے ہوئے کہا:
'' اگر آپ میری ذرا سی بھی رعایت کرتے تو میں اس تلوار سے آپ کی گردن اڑا دیتا''
قاضی نے بھی اپنی گدی کے نیچے سے کَوڑا نکال کر سلطان غیاث الدین کو دکھاتے ہوئے کہا:
'' اور اگر آپ شریعت کا حکم ماننے سے ذرا بھی ہچکچاتے تو میں اس کَوڑے سے آپ کی خبر لیتا۔ بےشک یہ ہم دونوں کا امتحان تھا'' ۔
