Dr Who actress; Elisabeth Sladen, dies at age 63. Fans share words of condolences

Elisabeth Sladen, a talented actress and strong character on the Dr Who Series has died on Tuesday. The 63-year-old actress was best known on the Doctor Who series as the assistant Sarah Jane Smith in the BBC television sci-fi series from 1973 and 1976. Sladen returned to the roll of the assistant on several occasions and was given a spin-off series on CBBC in 2007.

In a written statement by the BBC, confirmation of the passing of the Liverpool-born actress was shared with fans and friends of the beloved actress.

"It is with much sadness that we can announce Elisabeth Sladen, the much-loved actress passed away this morning.”

As with any celebrity who dies there is a tremendous amount of sympathy offered to the family by the fans. However in this case, the fans considered her family. With the strong character she played on Dr Who as well as the children’s series that the kids watched regularly she was famously known for being the lead in The Sarah Jane Adventures. Today, the entertainment world has felt a tremendous loss of talent as well as a good friend to all. According to sources the actress was battling cancer.
